This has stuck in my mind

and the thought keeps making me laugh.

I heard one of those, "When we were kids . . ." things and it said, "When we were kids, no one had to look for their keys … they were in the ignition!"

The really funny part is, it's true. When I was in middle school, there was an advertising campaign to get people to take the keys out of the car! How funny is that?

I remember hearing stories from my parents and grandparents saying the same thing about their keys and they also left the house unlocked at night time.

Ok, I'm not much younger than you, Terri, but I don't remember my parents ever leaving the keys in the car! I do remember leaving the doors unlocked and open, though. Now I keep my doors closed and locked all the time. We lock the car doors every time we get out too. Sigh.

Well, I lived in a smallish West Texas town and they always left the keys in the ignition until I was a teenager. Even then it was about 50-50.
