The FINISHED Quilt

I did it!! I had to stay away from the Internet yesterday to do it, but I finished! This is the first "from scratch" quilt I've ever done and I learned some things as I went along. I have a couple of more things to sew but then I think I'm going to attempt a quilt for my granddaughter Emma.

Quilt Progress

I've finished the top for the sheep quilt I'm making for the church nursery.
Today, I'm hoping to completely finish it, quilting and all. This was a little harder than I imagined. The piecing part wasn't so bad, but that sheep appliqué was a doozie. A couple of days ago, I went through the "What was I thinking?" stage. You know, that moment when you wonder why you didn't just go to the superstore and buy a quilt. But I pushed through it and I really think I'm going to love the results. The colors are so fresh and bright. When I get completely done with the nursery, I'll take pictures of that!

A Stormy Spring

A few months ago, I was beginning to wonder if we had ground under our snow. Now, I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever have dry weather. Wow. Later this week, the Mississippi is supposed to crest above flood stage for the second time this year. Wow.

However, that being said, we have had a lot of fun trying to learn to take pictures of the clouds and the storms. Last night bad weather rolled in and my Hero and I almost knocked one another over trying to get to the camera.

But clouds surely can be beautiful, can't they?

I think we are supposed to have a brief respite from the rain for at least a little while this week. I have mixed emotions about that. The more it rains, the more opportunity I have for practice shooting the rain. Then again, maybe I'd like to try taking pictures in the sunshine.

Our Morning Game

Every morning that he doesn't go to Head Start, Elisha wakes up and runs for my office. It is time to play a game with Nana!!



"See my leg, Nana? You can't get my leg!" (So he sticks it out for me to grab!)


"Oh, no!! You got my leg!!"


Then I let go and for a brief minute he has to ponder, "Why do I think this is fun? That kinda hurt…"



Oh, but wait! We're going to do it again!



"I'm kinda tired. Why are we playing so early?"



"Oh, yeah! I forgot, we do this because it is fun!"

Is there really a nicer way to start the day than by looking at this face?
