FOR TODAY February 23...

Outside My Window... It's bright and sunny but still cold. (That particular fact is getting old.)

I am thinking... I still need my umph back. In the meantime, I'm trying to fake umph.

I am thankful for... my sweet Hero.

From the kitchen... simply spaghetti for dinner tonight.

I am wearing... my pajamas, still! Yikes!

I am creating... two afghans, one for a baby girl, one for a baby boy.

I am going... to work, that's about it.

I am reading... my Bible, a book on writing memoirs, and a collection of Stephen King's short stories.

I am hoping... to get my umph back.

I am hearing... TV.

Around the house... We are doing a few more fix-up projects and I hope this week to finish the ceiling in my bedroom.

One of my favorite things... newly turned soil in the garden.

FOR TODAY August 18...

Outside My Window... we are tying a weather record for 2008! This is our 5th straight day without precipitation. Since January 1, we have not gone longer that 5 days without snow or rain. It looks like we might break the record tomorrow.

I am thinking... about anything but the phone call I am anticipating.

I am thankful for... my husband's many skills. He had to re-plumb our bathroom this weekend and got it all done, even learning to sweat pipe. We have no leak now and a wonderful new shower head!

From the kitchen... tonight we are having chorizo, eggs, and potatoes with cornmeal muffins.

I am wearing... blue culottes and my t-shirt from our cruise to the Bahamas.

I am creating... chaos — as usual. This last week I didn't have much time to create, hopefully this next week I can crochet some more.

I am going... to work this afternnon.

I am reading... "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks.

I am hoping... to hear about my job interview today. I have interviewed for the permanent position that I have been temping for the past six week and I really want the job.

I am hearing... construction equipment working in the housing development across the street.

Around the house... I'm hoping to get the office cleaned and organized today. My final semester of college starts next week and I need to be organized in order to juggle home, work and school!

One of my favorite things... puppy kisses.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… I haven't really thought that far ahead. If my financial aid comes in today, I have some online shopping to do.

Simple Woman Daybook August 11

FOR TODAY August 11, 2008...

Outside My Window... it is just unbelievably beautiful for August. It is only 65° with a slight breeze and clear, blue skies.

I am thinking... about something.... I'm sure..... I just don't know what.

I am thankful for... my washer and dryer. I would hate to cart this laundry to the laundromat, or worse yet, the river, everyweek.

From the kitchen... It will be salmon croquettes this evening!

I am wearing... a denim jumper and a bright green shirt.

I am creating... I've been slowly working on the new afghan. My puppy interrupted me by unwinding and tangling my yarn but I got that straightened out.

I am reading... "The Watchman" by Robert Crais. I don't know what got me in this mystery mode, but it's fun. Here in a couple of weeks everything I read will be school related.

I am hoping... my back quits hurting soon. Later this week, I have the real interview for the permanent position I have been temping. I hope that works out well.

I am hearing... the news.

Around the house... I haven't been able to do much because my back is out. It's not too bad, though. My family has been keeping things straight.

One of my favorite things... comfy socks.

FOR TODAY July 28, 2008...

Outside My Window... it is a bright partly cloudy sky, 67°.

I am thinking... what is that? thinking? I used to do that before menopause.

I am thankful for... my unchanging God.

From the kitchen... I have to dig out the kitchen to figure this one out. This weekend was just not a clean house weekend. Ugh.

I am wearing... a khaki skirt and a tan shirt with red flowers.

I am creating... I made myself a new black skirt to wear to work. I was very pleased because I did it without a pattern and it turned our really nice.

I am reading... I'm about to start reading some of the Early American Lit selections for my class this fall.

I am hoping... to lose some more weight this week.

I am hearing... the news.

Around the house... I'm praying really hard that we can replace my kitchen floor soon! It is U-G-L-Y.

One of my favorite things... my grandson's giggle.

FOR TODAY July 21, 2008...

Outside My Window... it is still raining and storming.

I am thinking... that my brain is tired. I didn't get very much sleep last night so I'm kinda foggy today.

I am thankful for... my Hero. He really is a good man.

From the kitchen... Buffalo wings, celery and carrot sticks this evening.

I am wearing... my favorite knit blue skirt and a yellow blouse.

I am creating... I need to make myself a couple of skirts.

I am reading... between books right now.

I am hoping... some annoyances work themselves out.

I am hearing... rain.

Around the house... I really don't know. I have the usual cleaning to do, but no real projects!

One of my favorite things... puppy breath.

Simple Woman Daybook — July 14, 2008

FOR TODAY July 14, 2008...

Outside My Window... it is an unbelievably beautiful day. It is mostly sunny with a crisp blue sky and 67°F (This is July, people!!!!).

I am thinking... that since I am off work today I need to get some things accomplished around this house. I have some computer work to do, and I want to get the house all clean at the same time before my work week starts tomorrow.

I am thankful for... my Saviour. Sometimes the idea that Jesus love me just overwhelms me.

From the kitchen... We are having country-style pork ribs tonight. And I have discovered the wonder of frozen bread dough!! Five loaves is less than $2.50. I just set a loaf out to rise in the morning, bake it in the evening, and every day we have "homemade" fresh bread — Five loaves for about the price of one loaf of store bought bread.

I am wearing... a denim skirt and a bright yellow shirt — and my tennis shoes. The thing I miss the most because I am working (only part-time, 4 hours a day) is my tennis shoes. Those silly dress shoes get old fast.

I am creating... still working on the church web sit. I also need to finish the August Bible reading schedule for the church.

I am reading... photography books, magazines and blogs.

I am hoping... they figure out what is wrong with my granddaughter soon. She will be six weeks old tomorrow and she is in the hospital because she can't keep food down.

I am hearing... talk radio, Dr. Laura.

Around the house... the kitchen needs some attention, and the outside breezeway really needs cleaned. All the rain we have been having has left it a mess!

I am working for a temp agency and I have a 4-6 week assignment working 3-7 at a medical clinic. I just started so I'm still getting my schedule together. I don't have many other plans this week.

Outside My Window... it is cloudy with storms threatening.

I am thinking... that I need to prepare for my job interview this afternoon.

I am thankful for... my family. I enjoyed spending time with them over the holiday.

From the kitchen... Nana's cupboards are bare. I need to take inventory and buy groceries.

I am wearing... my regular Monday dress, lol! I will be changing clothes in a moment.

I am creating... I just finished some culottes for myself and I haven't started anything new.

I am going... on that job interview this afternoon.

I am reading... I'm between books. I was just scanning the bookshelf last evening looking for something new to read.

I am hoping... to take my grandson to the museum Friday evening.

I am hearing... talk radio.

Around the house... I have a few plants I need to get in the ground after the rain stops.

One of my favorite things... Jelly Belly jellybeans.

FOR TODAY, June 30

Outside my Window...is unbelievably beautiful weather. It is 77° with a slight breeze and a few puffy white clouds in an otherwise blue sky.

I am thinking...I am? Wow, I don't do that much with this silly menopause thing going on … I am thinking that I need to put my laundry away.

I am thankful for...God's mercy and long suffering. He is so good to me.

From the kitchen...ah, we are having sirloin for dinner. It was on sale!

I am creating...a pair of culottes to wear this weekend.

I am going...nowhere! Just enjoying my home today. Later this week, I am going to Kansas City but for now, just staying home.

I am wearing...the same comfortable blue denim dress I seem to wear every Monday! What a creature of habit I am!

I am reading...other people's blogs!

I am hoping...that my grandson's allergies clear up.

I am hearing...the quiet of my neighborhood. In the distance, I can hear the pound of a hammer on the house they are building in the next block.

Around the house...most things are caught up. I need to vaccuum and put the laundry away but that's about it.

One of my favorite things...the feel of my Hero's work-weathered hand against my cheek.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...we are headed to Kansas City on Thursday and will be visiting my family over the July 4th weekend. Then we are coming back late Saturday in time for church on Sunday!

Outside My Window... there is still beautiful blue sky! The weather couldn't be nicer.

I am thinking... that I really have a lot to do today!

I am thankful for... my wonderful husband — my hero. He's just a great guy!

From the kitchen... it is time to buy groceries!

I am wearing... a comfy blue dress and my tennis shoes.

I am creating... a website for the church.

I am going... nowhere until this evening when I need to go to the grocery store.

I am reading... stuff about building a website.

I am hoping... to see my granddaughter soon.

I am hearing... talk radio.

Around the house... I need to scrub!

One of my favorite things... is sweet ice tea! especially when the condensation gathers on the outside of the glass.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… I have some sewing to do for myself. I want to work some to get the driveway cleaned up from the rain and do some clearing in the backyard. I have some work I need to do on July's Bible reading schedule for the church.

to pick Elisha up from Head Start, and my Hero from work.

a couple of books by Lois Lowry.

to buy my Hero a chainsaw tomorrow.

I need to do some deep cleaning in the kitchen.

is fresh air! It is cool today and I have the door open.
